Scholarships Sweden Description: The overall objective of the PhD fellowship is to close the gaps in our knowledge of the path of anaerobic degradation of nitrogen compounds in anoxic ground water systems.Elevated inorganic nitrate concentrations in the aquatic environment can cause significant impact on aquatic ecosystems and human health. Nitrate concentration in ground water has increased over the last decade due to increased agricultural activities that are directly related to food production. In addition, other sources such as municipal waste can also contribute to nitrate pollution in groundwater and surface water. http://www.callforpapersinfo.com
http://thescholarshipprogramme.com To assess the chemical history of nitrogen compounds in groundwater, stable isotope techniques have been proven to be a powerful tool in environmental sciences. Particular research questions will be investigated with the microcosm experiment related to field investigations. This Scholarships Sweden project will analyze the dominant sources and sinks of nitrogen in soil and water degradation track them using stable isotopes technique.Scholarships Sweden Candidates may apply prior to obtaining their master's degrees, but can not start until after you have received. All interested candidates irrespective of age, sex, race, disability, religion or ethnic background are encouraged to apply.
